When I was younger I got more in trouble for things like not drinking enough water and not wearing sunscreen, than I did for not wanting to go to school. In other words, my mother is one of the few people who had realistic priorities when it came to her 14-year-old daughter.
Despite this, I refused to miss a day of Middle School, and frequently fried my skin in the sun. But my subconscious still must have soaked up something, because these days not only do my moisturizers and my foundations have SPF in them, at any given moment my purse will have:
A full water bottle
An additional empty water bottle in case I go somewhere with a water filling station
A seltzer water
A sparkling flavored water (true addicts know there is a difference between this stuff and flavored seltzer water)
Not like one of those things in my purse. All four of them. I carry at least 3 out of 4, if not all, in my shoulder bag, at the same time. No dehydration here.
The moral of the story is: Mothers, just because we don’t care doesn’t mean we aren’t listening!
