Because if you are going to be, you might as well be positive.
I love following positive social media outlets because they provide a break from what I usually see scrolling through my social media! Because they have not been very popular, I no longer post a Sappy Sunday EVERY Sunday, but I still want to post when I come across a really great account. So here is a special place for my Sappy Sundays to live if you ever need a refresher of good places to take a break from our “president”.
While most Sappy Sundays are about filling your social media feeds with positivity, this one is about taking a step back and doing one of those hokey feel-good journal exercises. I am not joking, no matter how lame it might seem, literally just take 45 minutes to sloppily write out the list below and I promise by the end you won’t even feel bad that you’ve already given up on your New Year’s resolution. Doing the below list really made me realize this year’s potential, by helping me recognize the greatness of last year (a year that tbh did not feel great at every moment).
I started following Jilicious Journey on Instagram the summer I was entirely vegan (now I just am mostly vegan) because she is one. Now I just follow her because of her beautiful feed that is full of both positivity, and raw honesty. Something awesome that she has done before, and is doing this year, is a gratitude journal. She makes daily posts about what she is grateful for, and it is an awesome reminder for myself to stop scrolling while I bitterly wait for a late train, and just be thankful. I for sure recommend checking her out!
Here is a quick refresher in case you’ve forgotten/don’t know what Sappy Sundays are:
We are constantly scrolling, viewing, and interacting on social media. Lots of the time the news we see there, the posts that get the most attention, etc, are negative. By adding in various Pinterest Boards, Instagram Accounts, Facebook Pages, etc that promote positivity, I have made my social media and more pleasant and uplifting experience for myself, and I want to share those things with you!
Today I am loving the Instagram account of: Karen Salmansohn
While she also has a great website, I have more interactions with her Instagram, and it never fails to make me stop scrolling and say “okay okay”.
I walk that line of wanting to stay updated on world news, and feeling so dragged down by everything I see. You may know Aplus.com as a news site you may know to be co founded by Ashton Kutcher. They focus on the more positive side of world news, and while I am not saying we should ignore the depressing and ugly side of life, it is nice to be scrolling through social media and have their Facebook page pop up every once in awhile!
Who loves Pinterest? WE LOVE PINTEREST. If you don’t like Pinterest, you’ve obviously never had one, or are following the wrong boards. Besides the recipes, I probably won’t make, and the craft ideas that I never really plan to do, the challenges are my favorite and most realistic. I am not going to make a homemade headboard out of corks, but I will write down 30 things that make me happy.
I am gonna be honest about this one, I am not sure if I am in love with all the positive vibes on this Instagram account, or with Hannah herself. Or her dog. Okay, I probably follow her for cute dog pics and all the positivity and fitness inspo is just a plus. Anyway, shout out to Mary Rose for sharing this account with me, cuz now I am addicted:
Gotta go now and try and do a handstand!
Today I am kinda cheating because I am talking about a game. Normally I don’t have any games on my phone except for my one true love: Tetris. Every once in a while a stray into Words with Friends, or a good ol crossword puzzle app. You get the idea, I am nerd. That means you are prepared for the dorkiness of the game I love even more than Tetris:
It’s basically the same thing as Jewel, except the goal of each level is to solve the motivational quote. It’s as sappy and cheesy as it sounds, and playing it on the Subway on my way to work every morning puts me in the best mood ever. Don’t blame me, blame Oprah.
Good Morning Sappy Sundayers! Today I would love to share with you the instagram account of:
While her account doesn’t focus on necessarily being positive 24/7, it works on being supportive and relatable, which in my opinion is an important aspect of uplifting experiences on social media. These two posts speak to me on a spiritual level:
Love all of you! Have a good week friends!
